India Post is the government's postal system in India, managed by the Department of Post under the Ministry of Communications. Commonly known as the Post Office, it holds the title of the most widely spread postal system globally. The initiative to start the Postal Service was taken by Warren Hastings in 1766 under the East India Company, initially known as "Company Mail." Later, in 1854, during Lord Dalhousie's administration, it was restructured into a service under the Crown. Dalhousie introduced uniform postage rates (universal service) and played a key role in passing the India Post Office Act 1854.
Online applications are invited for the recruitment of Driver positions at the India Post. The application period commences on 29.12.2023 and concludes at 23:59 HRS on 09.02.2024.
Qualification, Age Limit, Pay Scale for India Post Recruitment 2024
Grade of Drivers
- Number Vacancy: 78
- Educational and other qualifications: From amongst the regular Dispatch Riders [Group-C] and Group-C in the Pay Matrix Level-1 Rs.18000-56900 as per the Revised 7th Pay Commission [PB-1 5200-20200 + Grade Pay-1800 under 6th CPC] in the Department of Posts who possess valid Driving License for driving Light and Heavy Motor vehicles on the basis of a Driving test to assess the competence to drive Light and Heavy Motor vehicles failing which from officials holding the post of Dispatch Rider on regular basis or regular Group-C employees in the Pay Matrix Level-1 Rs.18000-56900 as per the Revised 7th Pay Commission [PB-15200-20200+Grade Pay-1800 under 6th CPC] in other Ministries of Central Government who fulfill the necessary qualifications as prescribed under: Possession of a valid Driving License for Driving Light and Heavy Motor vehicles. Knowledge of Motor Mechanism [The candidate should be able remove minor defects in the vehicles). Experience of Driving Light and Heavy Motor Vehicle for atleast three years. Pass in the 10th standard from a recognized Board or institute.
- Pay Scale: Rs.19900-63200
- Age Limit: The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation/absorption shall not be exceeding 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of the applications.
Mode of Selection for India Post Recruitment 2024
Candidates qualifying in Stage I shall be eligible to appear for test in Stage II.
- Only such candidates who qualify in each paper of Stage II shall be considered for preparation of the final merit list.
- Final merit list of the qualified candidates shall be prepared on the basis of total marks secured by the candidates in both the stages of examination.
- After arranging the candidates in order of merit as per above, number of candidates to be declared successful shall be equal to the number of vacancies in each category.
- In the event of any vacancy notified for recruitment remains unfilled only due to the non-joining of the selected candidate, the next candidate in the merit list shall be considered for appointment. However, appointment of such candidate shall be only on the ground of refusal declining the offer of appointment and no waitlist or approved panel shall be maintained.

- The required documents mentioned in the notification along with the relevant documents in support of the qualifications and experience mentioned on the top of the envelope as "Recruitment on deputation/absorption from _Other Ministries of Central Government/ Re-employment of Armed forces personnel only" may be forwarded to- "The Manager, Mail Motor Service, Kanpur GPO Complex Kanpur-208001 Uttar Pradesh" latest by 09.02.2024 through proper channel.
- Applications that are not forwarded through the proper channel or those received without the requisite certificates and necessary documents or received after last date will not be entertained. Application without complete information or requisite documents will be rejected straight way without any notice or information.
