- A Ph.D. in Physical Education or Physical Education and Sports or Sports Science
- Experience of at least ten years in Physical Education and Sports as University Assistant/Deputy Director of Physical Education and Sports (DPES) or ten years as College DPES or teaching for ten years in Physical Education and Sports or Sports Science as Assistant/Associate Professor
- Evidence of organizing competitions and coaching camps of at least two weeks’ duration; and Evidence of having produced good performance of teams/athletes for competitions like state/national/inter-university/combined university, etc.

- Pay level (Rs.1,44,200 - 2,18,200) (Academic level - 14) in the revised pay matrix as per the seventh pay commission.
